Schwarzenegger Stands and Delivers

Good for Arnold. He didn't bow down to pressure from the League of Hollywood Obnoxious and Over-rated.

In a very articulate and well thought out statement. Gov. Schwarzenegger in part states:

"After studying the evidence, searching the history, listening to the arguments and wrestling with the profound consequences, I could find no justification for granting clemency. The facts do not justify overturning the jury's verdict or the decisions of the courts in this case."

The 9th U.S. Circuit Appeals also denied Tookie's request for a reprieve stating in part that there is no "clear and convincing evidence of actual innocence."

I still wonder why there is so little said about his victims (at least the ones he was convicted for murdering. There is so little said about them, that a MSN web search yields THIS INSIGNIFICANT blog!!!

That's pretty telling!

It is interesting that some people are wanting to delay the execution so they can study new data. NEW data? The man has been on death row for 25 years! That's 25 years with a warm bed, 3 squares a day -- 25 years more than any of his victims had. He has already been granted much more than he deserves.

Governor Swartzenegger surprised me. I thought his Hollyweird friends' influence would prevail.

I did too. But apparently there was absolutely NOTHING to base a clemancy on.

Even the 9th Circuit Court of California couldn't commute his sentence.

Other prisoners are now talking. They are saying he's the 'meanest' man they have ever met - which is saying something considering where he lives.

I don't wish him dead. I just think it's appalling that the Hollywood La-Las have taken this murderer under their wing and made him their cause celeb. NONE Of them have considered his victims and NONE of them would have him in their homes for dinner on a bet!

Just my opinion as usual :)
